You've seen the depth of conversation that arises from everyone's interest in the Flames right?
What do you talk about when you all have the same car?
"So you got the blue one eh?"
"Yup?"
"Yeah, I got the red one, no big deal."
Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of people like to talk about cars (I do from time time time), but I really don't get why people assuem they are gonna get along and have a great old time because they all drive the same model of car.
I'm also wondering what the "Desired effect" is that they are trying to create. Is seeing a dozen Eclipses really gonna blow anyone's mind? How will you know? Do you plan to hand out questionaires, or are you just gonna assume that everyone who sees the pack of Mitsubishi's is gonna be impressed? And why do you care if a bunch of strangers think to themselves "Wow, that sure was half a dozen Eclipses"?
For instance, me and a bunch of buddies regularily go for rides (we have a wide range of motorcycles), but the only desired effect we ever go for is to have a good time and enjoy the ride, but I can do that with 1 or 10 friends, and whether we're all riding Hondas, Kawasakis, Cruisers, Sportbikes, or choppers has absolutely no bearing on how much I enjoy it.

What's the desired effect of a bunch of people going out on 17th Ave all wearing Flames jerseys? It's the same as a bunch of people all with the same car or all with Harley's or whatever. The idea is that these people all love their car and they want to display that love to other people to attract others to it. It's the exact same thing as professing fandom for a hockey team and displaying that publically.
The depth of conversation about a car can be just as deep and quite possibly more interesting and more personal than anything about a hockey team IMHO.
Question, what do you drive? Most cars are totally boring and don't inspire any passion. If you drive something a little more eccentric or a little more exciting (I'm not a personally a fan of the Eclipse BTW, I think the newer models are uglier), you might feel a little more passion for it and feel the camraderie of being around people that share the same interests.
Wouldn't you assume that Flames fans would get along together to some degree just because they are Flames fans? Why fans of a team usually gather when they meet at opponents arenas?
