The only difference is you'll have a top line this year. Kane-Eichel-O'Reilly. Even Crosby couldn't take the Pens to the playoffs in his first year. Sabres will be better but no chance at the playoffs. I will take Bolts, Habs, Pens, Caps, Islanders, Wings, Jackets, Rangers easily over the Sabres. Then teams like Panthers/Sens/Flyers are likely ahead too. Bruins being a total wild card if Bergeron/Krejci/Rask can carry them.
Sabres will be in the Leafs, Canes, Devils group. And no Lehner will not be that much better the what Enroth provided them with last year.

Yep -- after two straight embarrassi last place finishes I would be okay with "better, but not a playoff team". Never threw out a playoff prediction. Your logic is a bit strange though -- why am I subtracting the goals Moulson and Ennis and Girgensons scored? Those guys are still on the team and likely to do better with better players around them.
Also, the season doesn't start tomorrow. NYI didn't look like a playoff team til late September last year.
