In a weird, macabre way, these killings can be seen as positive in that it seems to me that ISIS did not want to go down the terrorist acts in other countries route but with recent losses they may be wanting to keep the group in the media spotlight. As much as killing, I think ISIS enjoys the publicity and fear factor. They finally met an adversary in the Kurds who were willing to fight, and they got routed. I see today's events as sending a message to their base that they are still relevant.
