A Giordano extension won't kick in until 2016 anyway, so there is no need to be concerned about fitting everyone under the cap this season. I agree with Pylon that with the addition of Hamilton the Flames might transition into contenders quicker than anyone could have imagined.
At the 2016 trade deadline and draft there will be some questions on how to manage the cap since all of the following will be happening:
-Giordano getting a significant raise (assuming he re-signs this summer)
-Monahan & Gaudreau will be RFAs
-Hudler will be UFA
-Jones will be UFA
-Russell will be UFA
