Agreed. Part of it is that his show is a bit of a different format than TDS/TCR, so it took some time to work the kinks out.

It's unfortunate that it's happened, but the current wave of perceived or blatant racism in the US has actually been good for his show. He can approach those topics in a way that Jon Stewart cannot, based solely on his own experience as a black man. He did a segment where he sat down to a meal with several gang members in Baltimore in the wake of the riots there, and it was really pretty interesting, and something that Jon Stewart would never be able to do.
