I don't know salary stuffs, but based on my understanding, Engelland is overpaid at 3 mil on the 3rd pairing. Schlemko won't pry a spot away from the top 4 we have. Why would we give Schlemko an overpayment to sit on the 3rd line (which I believe Wotherspoon will take) or be our 7th?
If he wants money, I think he should go elsewhere. But if he's in the low 2 mil range, I think he's worth keeping for depth on a short contract. If he explodes and can steal a spot, then discussions can be made for more money.
I agree with others, Schlemko hasn't proven anything. He's shown flashes for sure, but proof? Too little evidence for proof, but we can lean on a possibility I guess. That being said, he hasn't had much of a stage to do so either.
