He's not going to get that on the open market anyway, and it's kind of laughable. More than half the league passed him up for free. 19 games with the Flames doesn't earn him a contract like that.
The interest doesn't exist for him. I expect if a deal does happen, it will be for 1 year at around $1 million.
There's no rush to sign bottom pairing waiver fodder.

Just because he was waived doesn't mean there wasn't interested. The first time he was waived he was picked up by Dallas, a non playoff team at the time, meaning any time sitting in a playoff spot in that point of time didn't get a chance to claim him. When the Flames claimed him they were in the bottom of the playoffs, meaning that half the teams in the league, which were sitting above them didn't get a chance to claim him. You don't think Chicago or TB would have loved to have David Schlemko instead of David Rundad/Kyle Cumiskey/Andrej Sustr?
Fact is, he's 27, puts up possession numbers like a top 3 dmen but only gets the ice time of a #7. If he gets the ice time his possession numbers suggest he should, his points will increase.
In my opinion with younger players long term deals are better, as the cap goes up their contracts shrink relative to the cap total.
