I agree we shouldn't be trading assets for a goalie but at the same time I think you underestimate how hard it can be to get a goalie once you do need one.
Ortio, Gillies, and Macdonald have potential but none are a sure thing to be an NHL calibre starter.
Ask Philly, St.Louis, Washington, Ottawa (stacked 2000 teams), etc if they regret not making a bigger move for a proven goalie that would have truly helped them be a contender in the past.
