As far as I know these things are usually collectively bargained for the guys who make the lowest. With league average salary being what? 3 million? The majority of guys makes probably around that or less.
The lower paid guys have less endorsement opportunities and what not so it is more imperative they make more salary.
At least that's my view of the situation.
