Likely reflective of the 1a/1b scenario we see a lot in the NHL. While there are a small number of elite guys, the gap between average and good goalies isn't very big anymore.

I agree. I thought it was nuts when Sharks traded Gibson for G. Reinhart but you're right the value of goalies has come down.
It also helps that team like yours is content with a guy like Bernier cuz he was great in the sim. Some teams just don't want to pay up, last year Edmonton fell from like 4th in the west to outta the playoffs when Nabakov retired. He didn't want to pay the price to bring in a decent rated goalie and cost him a playoff spot.
