I haven't really follow/looked into Konecny closely, but his stats and numbers are very underwhelming.
He has the second lowest point per game total out of any CHL forward projected to go in the top 20. He has been a minus player every year in the OHL thus far. He is the smallest forward projected to go in the first round. He is injury prone.
Small forwards with edge have a track records of facing numerous injuries in the NHL. Not only do injuries slow/stop progression, but they waste cap, reduce chemistry, and reduce overall play.
Also the lack of progression since last year is a bit scary. His numbers have basically stayed the same even though his team improved.
Does he have more flashy highlights or something? Just looking at numbers, it seems like Merkley is a better player in virtually every aspect, except maybe chippy play, which just makes konecny injured more often. Even if Konecny was 6'3, his point totals would barely be enough to justify taking him at 15.
