Toronto is going to have no shortage of future assets after they're done removing the excess. To attract free agents, they'll likely have to hand out bad contracts with toxic term attached to them - so that's not a good option either.

There are two points here:
The point you are making, is one I don't think anyone has a problem with. Yes, teams need good leaders for rebuilds.
That is separate from the point stating the trade scenario for Sharp is lopsided towards the Hawks.
