The Hurricanes were one of the most confusing teams ever.
Jordan Staal, who used to be a 25 goal scorer, only had 6 goals last year.
Eric Staal, who used to be a 40+ goal guy and a guy in that Toews conversation as an elite leader, hasn't broken 25 goals in four years.
Even Sekera looked much stronger playing the Kings, a team that couldn't score this year, tyan on the Hurricanes.
Skinner, who had 33 goals last year, only got 18 this year while playing MORE games.
Something about Carolina makes goalscoring die. It's wierd because they're actually a strong enough possession team that if they were in the playoffs, they'd be one of the dark horse favorites for the Cup. If I didn't knoe any better I would think Brent Sutter was coaching the 'Canes.
I honestly think a return to a high-flying team like Calgary would bring Semin back to being a 25+ goal scorer, and he's an upgrade defensively over Hudler too, improving at least one of our top 2 lines. Either way, #5 overall would be the centrepiece of the deal.
