Is it really happening? If we hear any rumours of Sean Bean coming back then we will know it is true. I do remember reading an article after season one where D&D basically said they had good reasons to not include the flashback in the show. I am guessing that reason is because they would have tipped the hand of John's heritage in season 1. Now is the right time to reveal the Targaryen.
Ahh wouldn't this be a great way to reveal the High Sparrow's history, start with him having a flash back of saving Ned Starks life against Dayne and revealing that he is in fact Howland Reed.
OR
It could be a flash back for Jamie Lannister. He was knighted by Ser Arthur Dayne in the battle against the Kingswood Brotherhood when Dayne killed the Smiling Knight. That makes sense as they are casting all of these characters for an 'outlaw band'. Maybe this is to wet our whistle of who Arthur Dayne is before a ToJ flashback in season 7?
Also looks like the North is going to be a big focus for season 6 including recasting the Great Jon. I am guessing that all of the stuff with Manderly will be put on to him since the show is familiar with this character already.
