There are parts of the laws that should be stripped out altogether and there are things that should be added. The biggest difference between Canada and the US is the fact that the gun laws in Canada are federal, not provincial. The provinces can enact certain measures, but not to the extent that the states can in the US.
Overall Canada's laws seem to work ok. If they somewhat infringe on someone's rights to use a deadly weapon as a toy I'm ok with that.
