Also, gil was really hard to come by early on and that made things unnecessarily difficult for beginners.

FFXII still looks great on the PS2 honestly. Hook it up with component cables on a CRT TV and it looks amazing.
Yeah I didn't mind it once I got used to it, but I recall a lot of whining and moaning at the time.

Why would you want Chrono Trigger to be remade? It's not suffering from being a late SNES sprite based RPG today. It all holds up really well. To me, the DS version is the definitive version of Chrono Trigger that everyone should play, and needs nothing further. That being said, I'm fine with seeing FFV and FFVI remade like the other older ones have, which is a bit weird considering my stance on Chrono Trigger.
I want it to be re-made so I can play the same game but with the visual and audio trimmings possible by current generation machines. I'm not saying it isn't still a great game as it is. But I'd still like to see an updated graphics version.

The other point is that the Chrono games left a number of unexplained and frankly inexplicable story wrinkles that could be retconned (not overhauled, just tweaked for consistency and comprehensibility) if you were to re-make them... I'm actually fine leaving them in their imperfect form but someone could certainly make that argument.

I just finished FFVII a few weeks ago, and I couldn't help but compare the game constantly to FFIX, which I feel was better in every way. VII definitely has a better conclusion than IX, but that's about it for me.
The ending was somewhat disappointing, true, though obviously a huge rebound from the unmitigated stupid that VIII devolved into. You could say the party characters were more interesting in VII, on balance; I mean I just don't care at all amount Amarant or Quina, Garnet is a bit two-dimensional for a love interest, and Steiner and Eiko were frequently annoying. Sephiroth is a better villain than Kuja (honestly, Garland's a much more interesting character). The world feels more expansive and unfolds better throughout disc 1 of FF7 than it does throughout IX (the pacing in IX is a bit jerky sometimes). Both have some strong supporting characters.

But I don't begrudge you that opinion; many people think IX is the best PSX title in the series.
