Do you have the stats handy? Can't look them up until tonight.
I'd be willing to be that the states that fall into the lowest bracket have some laws on the book most people would support. Ones that deal with the illegal use of firearms and have a barrier to unsuitable owners gaining access in the first place.
But at the same time, there are a bunch of useless, fell good laws that are based on optics and misinformation rather than fact.
Pass a law that makes it illegal for someone convicted of a crime to possess a firearm, make surrender of firearms a condition if someone is under a DV protection order or pass a background check at point of sale or before and you'll probably get overwhelming support. But try to pass a law that bans a gun just because you think it looks scary or looks like the military might use it and people will rightfully call you a fool and not support it. Same goes for mag restrictions, very little impact on safety. Safe storage laws are probably a grey area, just due to the ability to enforce.
