Even beyond that, he's forcibly missing the point.

This barber shop (and many others) pride themselves on doing certain kinds of highly technical, more difficult men's haircuts.

The customer in question walked in and requested one of those specialized, highly technical, men's haircuts.

She did not walk into this men's barber shop and ask for highlights and a Jennifer Aniston lob. She walked in and asked for an exact haircut that the barber shop specializes in.

If a man walked into a "woman's salon" (which as far as I know doesn't actually exist) and asked for a layered haircut and highlights--he wouldn't be turned away.

She asked for a service that the barber shop performs. They turned her away solely based on what parts she had in her pants.
