You're right, I forgot all about that.. I think it involved a bet with a fan. Ser Patrek was named to represent the fan and the emblem was for the Cowboys. However Martin is a twisted bugger and also a massive Giants fan. So what does he do? He has a Giant kill the "Cowboy" fan, Ser Patrick. And he takes it one step further, the giants name is Wun Wun, perhaps a reference to legendary Giants QB Phil Simms, #11.

I also hope at some point they bring in Wyman Manderly to the show just so we can get the best line in the book about killing the three Frey's:

It probably will happen as Davos is still alive and has yet to be 'executed' and Rickon is also out there. And then he can feed the dead Freys to their family members in the famous 'pies' while they sing Rat Cook.
