What the Wings are doing with Mantha isn't the best thing to do when you look at both sides of the party. Mantha may never get that opportunity anymore with a new team with the red flags Detroit management is saying, and Detroit management isn't going to get a great return for Mantha.

The only reason Sven got traded is because he asked to be traded. Burke's comments were not comments from a GM or President looking to trade a player, they were comments looking to motivate a player they hoped would pan out.
Regardless, the impact of these types of public comments is little to none I would think. I know they are our best source of info as fans on these types of things, but I'd wager the inner hockey circles aren't as clueless as to what's going on with prospects and players, and by the time a manager says anything in public, it's likely already been know by anyone around the league that matters and they likely know more details.
