Although you might think this, it certainly is not the case. I can't say all the people who camp over night are not internet sellers since I don't really know. However, generally the front of the line consists of the same people every year who are just hardcore collectors and don't buy the sought after items for resale. The staff at the sale know these guys are legit and is probably why they have never changed things since they know the stuff is going to people who appreciate it.
Hockey Equipment is also quite bulky so what looks like a ton is probably not as much as you think.
