I love Hudler, but trading a guy in his situation is exactly what rebuilding teams do
-over 30? check.
-coming off career season? check.
-pending UFA? check.
I get that he has intangibles. I get he's a great influence and a great leader. I get that he's Jiri 'frickin' Hudler. But, from a pure asset management perspective AND from the perspective of hopefully being contenders in 3-4 years, this is absolutely a move that should be seriously considered. That said, I will be sad the day #24 moves on, he's been probably the best UFA signing in team history. One of my favorite players to wear the flaming C in the last 20 years.
