I do like the idea of changing your mind as new information comes in, but this was a very sudden change.
At first, I didn't think it was staged though. I felt like they would have put more work in the "resolution" part of it, because the way the dispute just suddenly ended seemed pretty organic. That's how I saw it initially.
Then this post pops up and makes me re-consider. We've already discussed how it would be good for scum to vote for other scum to throw the town off the trail should a scum card be flipped. So Diss voting for HG doesn't really mean a whole bunch. I'm not sure HG was almost lynched, though it was somewhat close there for a while (if a Mafia buddy could jump off, was he really that close?). I guess what I'm trying to say is: here is Diss again, saying "look at what I did! No way scum would do this". It feel like he's (again) trying to hard to show he does town things.

If I was going to stage something like that I would have done a better job with the ending. There was no saying "look what I did!", HG asked me to do some serious research into his posting, I did, the evidence I saw supported him more toward being town than scum. That is it. Every time I thought I had discovered something there was other posts that cleared things up for me. Could I have continued to make a case against him? Sure, but why would I if I think he is town? It was better to try and focus elsewhere.
