I don't know. Kessel has shown in Toronto that his 30+ goals every year don't contribute to a winner and by the time his deal is on the back side I'm not sure he will be much of a player unless he starts changing his diet and exercise routine by a full 180. As least with Semin they will be able to likely move him in 2.5 years or so at the deadline when he's UFA. Maybe people don't realize but Kessel's deal counts for an $8 million salary cap hit annually until 2022. We know today he's not a winner and not a great leader so personally I feel three years of Semin is much less riskier of a proposition especially if he can get back to being a point a game player or close.
