I am 100% convinced that most countries are doing this or something similar. Majority of younger people don't talk to each other anymore, they stare at their phones and read tweets, FB, Instagramm, snapchats etc. Ideology used to reach people through newspapers, TV and radio. Nowadays, it's social media. Public opinion matters, so ideology is just changing tools of the trade. Russia is doing it. US is doing it...
Should we assume that <forgot the name of the guy> is a Wildrose Alliance sponsored troll, Nage_Waza is an Israel-sponsored troll, _Q_ is a Palestinian-sponsored troll, Nehkara is an NDP-sponsored troll etc? I am only half-serious, of course. But making a "wow, OMG!" news out of Russian Government sponsored trolling is laughable.
