A couple of tips for getting around:
- Buy a book of bus/train tickets. You can get them at convenience stores, Co-op stores, or even the Calgary Transit office downtown on 7th. This will save you worry about having change with you. You can pay for the train with a credit/debit card now, but I still find it easier to have a ticket and just shove it in the validator thing that is attached to the main ticket machine. Quick and easy.
- This may be too late for this trip (but might be worth a try if you're here for a while), but Car2Go would be pretty handy for zipping around, especially if you're going to be centrally located. Basically a cheaper, more flexible rental car. These things are everywhere.
- Taxis generally suck in the city as there just aren't enough of them. If you can get one promptly, great, but don't bet your house on it showing up on time or at all, particularly at busy times.
