One reason the city hasn't moved on West Village yet because it would detract from what they're trying to accomplish with the East Village. Once East Village is fully built out, that ceases to be an issue.

Oh ya I don't fault developers. The economics of the site just don't make sense without a public contribution - whether there's an arena involved in the plans or not. My point is that people throw their hands in the air and get all upset with the idea of a public contribution to an arena but we won't hear a peep from them when there's public funds devoted to development of the area in general. There's a disconnect there...there's some sort of weird taboo against public contribution towards an arena.
