It's ask what a person wants:
If soda: pop open the can, poor it into a small cup overloaded with ice, and then offer if you want the rest of the can.
If beer: either pour into a cup or open and provide the beer.
Though I must say I've never asked for an unopened one so I don't know if I would be given one or not.

It depends on the Airline. This specific operator has no policy on opened vs unopened.
