At the risk of repeating myself it would be much better for the Flames to have Jankowski playing in the AHL next year.
The only reason the Flames would not have made an offer to Jankowski is that they don't project him to be NHL quality and a waste of a contract spot.
You don't think that the Flames would have given Jankowski the option of going pro for next season?

Not if they think that another year in college would be better for his development. (or if Jankowski had already told them that he is going back for his final year regardless).
I agree with you in that I would rather Jankowski be in Stockton this year as well. However, that
does not mean that the Flames "don't project him to be NHL quality". Absolutely no reason whatsoever to make that giant leap of an assumption.
