At the risk of repeating myself it would be much better for the Flames to have Jankowski playing in the AHL next year.
The only reason the Flames would not have made an offer to Jankowski is that they don't project him to be NHL quality and a waste of a contract spot.
You don't think that the Flames would have given Jankowski the option of going pro for next season?

They might have given him the option but that would have been a discussion, not a formal offer. It's not like the team has no contact with these players or their advisors and one day decides to send an offer and hope they accept it.
