Add in a new contract for Giordano and the Flames could have cap issues and need to move Hudler, let alone taking on a Richards or a Semin.

The Flames have bigger talent faster than expected and they are going to get paid.

They'd better stay clear of adding big tickets for futures.
We should be no where near cap jail unless we're perennial Cup contenders ala Chicago, NY, Boston, LA etc. Contract management is key and when the time is right, go for it. Constantly losing in the 1st or 2nd round should dictate what players are making, and not solely on regular season points. Agreed Monahan, Johnny, and Bennett will all be paid, but I hope their contracts are based equally on point production and playoff success.
