The thing about the Leafs is they are in an incredibly weak negotiating position. They have pretty much no leverage, they badly want to deal Kessel and Phaneuf, but everyone knows that, so why help the Leafs out of their mistakes...and give them a good deal to boot? Leafs will probably end up accepting 50 cents on the dollar for both in a return if they actually want to deal them. But there's no market for either, the Leafs can't drive up the price. If anything other teams can drive it down as the Leafs get more desperate to just unload them.
