Sure he's got Gilmour bigtime...but so does Toews.
I've seen Monahan get compared to Toews on this board often. I don't think that's very accurate and I think Bennett is more similar in style to Toews than Monahan is. Bennett & Toews make their living being fearless, physical and borderline reckless in puck pursuit. Toews has a nasty streak too don't forget. In addition to having great all around skill, speed and high IQ.
Monahan to me shares more similarities with Kopitar. Big but not physical, exceptionally high IQ and are a threat to both pass and shoot from anywhere. Monahan doesn't have the same doggedness of puck pursuit as Toews, he's more cerebral.
I mean it doesn't matter but it's fun to compare
. Down the road the up and coming young NHLers will be compared to Monahan, Bennett and Gaudreau.
