Does that matter? We will always have room for a 6'5" 225 pounder that can skate and play multiple positions. If we find better options he moves donw the lineup. That is how you develop depth, especially with guys that can play multiple positions.

So when a youg guy starts playing to his potential and looks like he's on the verge of a breakout you should use him as a sweetener? Hey, maybe we should use Bennett as a sweetener to move up in the draft?

Good god, you include what will be a 32 year old David Jones as part of forward core, but are willing to currently throwaway a 25 year old just coming into his own? Glad you're not running this team. David Jones will be lucky is he survives this summer as a Calgary Flame let alone earn another contract that would see him as part of this team in two years. I'd actually be surprised to see Backlund be around in that time frame as well.

Well, we know for certain that Colborne plays well with Monahan. We also know he can play any role given him. So I'm not concerned about where he plays. And until Hunter Smith proves he can play in the professional ranks, and Emile Poirier shows he's capable of playing in the NHL, Joe Colborne should have nothing to worry about. I don't see the other players being in a position to compete with Colborne unless they can show they are capable of playing the off wing. If anything, most of those players are competition for Backlund, who should be very concerned about holding onto his job with those young turks coming up. That also doesn't take into consideration Mark Jankowski being a possible fit into the third pivot role.

Colborne fits in quite nicely. I could see this as our forward depth in two or three years.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Colborne
Ferland-Bennett-Poirier
Granlund/Klimchuk-Jankowski-Smith
Bouma-Arnold-Agostino
Carroll-Shore-Hathaway

You could take any of those top three right wingers and move them up and down the lineup and I don't think you are going to hurt yourself in any way. That is what depth can do for you. Those guys left out should be able to help us improve our blue line, which makes the future very bright. A big part of that is Joe Colborne and the 4th round draft pick we invested in him.
Cool story bro. Tried to stay awake reading it all but I got the jyst. You disagree. Take a breath.
