I'd imagine that a few of the RFAs will not be qualified. New guys like Smith, Kanzig, Gillies etc will take their place. There are only so many spots. Can't keep them all. But getting back good assets for these cast offs in a trade is a pipe dream.

I didn't think the idea was to pick AHL players who have little chance of making the big leagues and have no trade value. They are expendable by definition but are not an asset from the perspective of a trade return. This is why I only included players such as Granlund, Wotherspoon, and to a lesser extent Reinhart. They could actually be packaged in a realistic trade or could be traded for 2nd or 3rd round picks would could later be packaged in another trade.
