This isn't a direct reference to this trade either, i really dobt mind it being rejected. Its happened before and will happen again, the leash is just too short for my liking is all. I can understand why the rule is there.

Either way, im past discussing it.
I know you're past discussing it, but there is plenty of room for mistakes after the review period. Look no further than my franchise! I've made plenty of terrible deals and one or two decent ones over my tenure. I remember what it was like being a brand-new GM though and there were certainly a couple guys (no longer in the league) who couldn't wait for me to be able to trade because my thoughts on the value of players and assets was not in line with the league. Its really better for everyone if that kind of thing doesn't happen.

I would also note that I made a trade very early on that was a little bit questionable and rather than an outright decline, I was approached by one of the commissioners who just said "do you realise this and this?" and made sure I knew some of the finer points before approving the trade. That was great because it not only covered that particular deal off, but made me look at those points for deals down the road.

Anyway, don't worry. This deal might not have worked, but your trading partner is a Canucks fan, and once he's off the leash we'll be able to send him things like Baertschi for a 2nd rounder and the league won't step in to protect him from himself!
