Last car auction I went to, many of the car buyers were basing their bids on black book value. Probably a good indicator on what you could expect to receive. Incidentally, I once owned a Pontiac Grand Prix with what sounds like the same problem (bent rod causing bottom end noise... same advice, sell it now.)
I ended up selling it to a used car dealer, for a price in the black book range. I got three different prices from different lots, about $500 difference from top to bottom. No one ever asked me anything about the mechanical condition. The mileage and body condition seemed to be the only criteria.
Suffice it to say, I'll never buy a used car again without an inspection.
