Based on the audience's reaction when he said that, it sounded like some kind of inside joke.
These shows usually have a "warm-up" guy come out before they start taping to tell some jokes, give away prizes, and take a few questions from the audience so that the audience is full of energy when the actual show starts. There was likely someone from Calgary in the audience and made a big deal about it during the warm-up.
I bet he doesn't have any official guests on tonight's show so that Bill Murray will be the final guest, but there will likely be a bunch of walk-ons. I expect a celeb-filled final Top 10 list.
Terri Garr, Bonnie Hunt, and Charles Grodin are all former frequent guests who haven't been on the show in years. For years, he's always had Jay Thomas on the final episode before Christmas to tell his Lone Ranger story. I wouldn't be surprised if they did that one last time.
