Decent deal for both sides, not a huge risk for Ottawa when he's making backup money. Hammond guarantees himself a 4M contract after 25 games played in the NHL. He'll only be 30 when this contract is up, so if he's more than a one-year (quarter-year) wonder he can still cash in.
