I just want it to be fair to Gio and front loaded Very front loaded.. That way we have a happy captain and more cap room in the future when the kids earn bigger contracts.

IF Gio keeps getting better with time like a fine wine or wins a norris etc, deserves more or less than 7m in following seasons you can always restructure or renegotiate, especially since he wants to be a Flame for life. Bottom line we have to keep him but we shouldnt expect his play to stay where it is after 2 more seasons. I hope it does and I can see him being 36 and an all-star but I dont want us to predict and expect that thus having a potential for an albatross contract to an older player that isnt performing right when our young guns need improved contracts. I'm sure treliving sees that as one alternative future/reality.
