Default Any landscapers here to lend advice?

I planted 6 skyrocket junipers last spring and they did great through the summer. I covered them with burlap over the winter (I live in Edmonton) to prevent windburn and insulated the roots. This spring though, they feel very dry and are starting to turn brown. I thought they just needed lots of watering, but I soon learned that junipers like dry conditions and now I'm worried I may have over-watered and possibly gave them a fungal infection like blight. There doesn't appear to be any insect infestation or anything of that sort. Any ideas? Are they a lost cause, should I rip them out? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Sorry for the ginormous pictures.
