I don't think it's quite this black and white. If Hudler is seen as part of the core and as part of the answer going forward, then you re-sign him and do not trade him.
If the opposite is true of Wideman, if you can improve the team - by trading him and acquiring a replacement that is perhaps younger - then you do it.
