after four consecutive years of single-digit goal-scoring. Backlund has 28 goals and 38 assists in his last 128 games - which is a pretty much
identical pace to Stajan's contract year. That's easily Stajan money at minimum, and realistically he could earn more as he's a much better possession player who was among the team leaders in average TOI this season, as well as being only 26 years old while Stajan was 30 - that's 4 years worth of prime that had already passed on Staj's deal.
You're

while he's an RFA, a qualifying offer
won't buy UFA years.
