Not sure what Billins plans are going forward, but he was our farm teams #1 defenseman two seasons ago before going to Europe for a season, so if he is coming back I would definitely keep him on as an AHL leader who might push for an NHL job as well.

I think the Flames like Ramage a lot more than the fans do. He's just not a sexy prospect and is a bit boring but that's not a bad thing to have in a defenseman. I think he and Wotherspoon will be fighting it out for that 7th spot next year.
As for Billins, not sure if it was a mutual decision for him to go to Europe last year, but I don't think there was a better situation for a smallish offensive defenseman than the Flames. Maybe he didn't feel like he was on Hartley's good side?
