110 the design limit of Stoney SE?!?
BS. That road could have 140 and still be as safe as can be. It's a ####ing straight road with incredible visibility, wide shoulders, plenty of lanes, long exits and it's new so it's in great shape.
Any where else in the developed world and that road is at least 120, and it's 140 in places that allow it.
There are only two reasons it's limited at 100.
1. Handing out tickets. It's a speeders dream come true for all the reasons I listed above. Probably the most tempting urban road to speed on in Alberta.
2. People not understanding the concept of "Keep Right Except to Pass". Hard to have a speed limit of 140 when you have stubborn #######s that will refuse to move to traffic because they think it's their God given right to camp out in whichever lane they please. From my experience this is strictly a Canadian problem too. I don't know if we're too nice or if our cops don't have the balls to deal with the attention that will come with starting to ticket people who are abiding by the speed limit but in the wrong lane over the speeders who are on their ass but it won't change on it's own.
That's it. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded and has never driven outside of this country.
