Also wanted to add this op-ed piece by Kenneth Meshoe, a South African member of parliament calling the labeling of Israel as an apartheid state as slanderous, deceptive and a ridiculous accusation.

Well it looks like Mandela was misquoted, and it was actually Yassir Arafat who claimed Israel was an Apartheid state. Having said that, I definitely see parallels between the way the South African Government treated black people, compared to Israel's treatment of Palestinians who reside in the West Bank.
