Yeah, Andrea is a common male name in many parts of Europe. The pronunciation is slightly different than the female version of the name that most North Americans are use to.
I actually suffer from this. I have an ethnic name that has feminine version that is way more popular in Canada. Growing up, it was always good for some laughs at my expense when teachers would call out names for attendance and would read it as the female version. It happened almost every time there was a sub. Even today, when telemarketers call, they usually default to it. It's a nice heads up though that the person doesn't know me and I can just hang up.
