It's definitley poking the bear (or rather, rat, as terrorists arent more than that), but given how crazy this issue had become, and how fearful people have become of retribution, maybe it's necessary.
Freedoms need to be defended every so often.
Also, it's apparent Muslim fundamentalists are fuzzy on their own religion. But we knew that already. And all other fundamentalists are as well in their religions anyway. It is only blasphemous to portray Mohammed, if you are Muslim. How can I blaspheme something I don't believe in? Unless you believe of course, everyone needs to be converted. And of course, that flies in the face of our freedons, or society, and basic common sense and dignity.
It's a distinction I wish moderate Muslims would pay more attention to. Why should their religion be immune to debate or ridicule when other religions are not? Yes it's insulting. But Christians and Jews (and every othet religion) deal with it all the time. And yes, most often people do do it to be mean spirited. But sometimes it's an important tool in debate, art, and raising issues.
The more I think about it, the more I'd like to see events like this happen all over the world. At least until there is some movement on the issue. Which could take a few different forms that I won't get into just now as I'm on my phone.
EDIT: to add, I'm not for the group or it's ideals. Save for this very important one. I think one can separate this idea from the group. Others have had it. Even Matt and Trey from South Park.
