My wife and I do the same thing for each other on Mother's day/Father's day. I take the kids to the dollar store, or Wal-Mart or somewhere. They have to pick something that they want to give her. It doesn't have to be any specific thing. It is just something that comes from the kid's hearts. Amount of money spent on a gift should be irrelevant. The thought put into it is what matters.
On top of that I take them to a gardening center and each kid picks out a hanging basket of flowers for her. My oldest tries to find the flowers with the colours that most resemble the Calgary Flames.
Then, from me, I let her sleep in on Mother's Day AND on Saturday too. This year I'm gonna splurge and let her have Friday too (just in case I win tickets to the Flames game on Friday night and get home late).
