this entire season has been based on Meritocracy.
NeverQuit, AlwaysEarned. We've seen the highest paid player, one of the team's veterans, BENCHED, not to mention others like bollig, raymond, jones, etc.
Well you can't live by that philosophy all season to suddenly just ignore it now for salary related concerns.
I'd imagine many players in the NHL have bonuses structured around individual contribution (goals, points, wins, etc). If it's common practice to sit players once the team has qualified for the playoffs/or rank in the playoffs, in an attempt to hinder a players ability to breach a bonus threshold, well then maybe this debate holds water. i don't think this is common practice at all, as such, there is no reason whatsoever to bench bennet.
There's only one flame player to score in the entire second round, guess who that is....
